Love What You Do Or Do Something Else

It may seem a little harsh but I’m telling you now, if you don’t love what you do, you don’t have much chance for success in network marketing. The failure rate is pretty high in this industry but you CAN increase your odds for success.


Well, first thing is, let’s lose that word ODDS. It’s not about odds. It’s about YOU and what you do, but one thing that is a major help in your success is liking what you do.


Those who are really successful in network marketing really love what they are doing. Not only do they like the network marketing industry and the company they are with but they also love marketing and promoting their business.


That’s the part I want to talk to you about today. Actually finding pleasure in marketing your business. I heard someone say once, “Find the work you love, and the compensation will follow.” That can be applied to the type of marketing you choose to promote your business. There are LOTS of ways to do that.


When I first began my network marketing career 17 years ago I was in a company that was not right for me and I hated what I was doing. They had us doing hotel meetings, 3 way calls on friends and family and other things that just did NOT fit my style. I stuck with that first company for 2 years until I just could not continue. I really did not like what I was doing. I loved the idea of working from home and having time and financial freedom but it seemed like something unattainable.


When another opportunity came along that felt like a better fit, I decided to give it another go. This time I would do things in a way that felt comfortable to me. That was 15 years ago and I am very glad I didn’t give up on my dreams to work from home.


The key for me was to learn ways to market my business that I could really enjoy. I needed to get people coming to me. I had no intention of chasing after people.


There are LOTS of ways to market your business and get leads coming to you. Find the ones that fit your style. Get your systems in place. Learn the skills and the mindset you need, then practice until you get better.

WHOA! Get Rid of That Employee Mindset!

WHOA!! Put on the brakes. There is a big MINDSET problem that plagues a lot of network marketers. It is an Employee Mindset and it MUST be addressed.


Employee MindsetIf you are serious about building a successful network marketing business, you must get out of the Employee Mindset and start functioning like a business owner.


As a independent distributor you are CEO of your own company. It’s a serious business.


If you want to earn a serious income, it is important that you stop thinking like an employee and start thinking like an ENTREPRENEUR! Start every day with that in mind until it becomes second nature. Each day ask yourself, “What would the entrepreneur do today to grow his business?


You MUST break free of Employee Mindset if you want to build a serious income. You also need to be able to recognize Employee Mindset so you can change any patterns that you may have developed that lean in that direction.


Here are a few examples . . .


Employee Mindset trades time for dollars and most do the minimum required. Some even delight at wasting time while the boss isn’t looking. “Hey, they pay by the hour and nobody is watching, I’ll sneak in a little Bejeweled or talk with co-workers about favorite TV shows.”


The Entrepreneur Mindset knows that time is a most important asset and is not to be squandered. He knows that the amount of income he earns depends on the daily actions he performs. He never just shows up and does a minimal amount of work.


The Employee Mindset waits for someone to tell them what to do. They act on what the boss tells them what to do and they expect to get paid whether the project succeeds or fails.


Entrepreneur has to do the thinking and knows that success or failure depends on what they DO. To make sure they are successful and thus GET PAID, they do the research, learn the skills they need, do the advertising. They find out what needs to be done and then they take ACTION.


When they see something isn’t working, they find out why and then make adjustments until it IS working.


Employee Mindset usually has their money spent before it is in their hands.
Entrepreneur knows that the time and money they spend is an investment in their future. They are willing to put in the time, knowing that it will be GROWING into something substantial.


Employee Mindset gets scared when the economy is down and retreats to the illusion of job security.


Entrepreneur sees the opportunity is increasing since more people need what we have to offer.


And . . .


Since the ones with Employee Mindset fled the scene, there will be less competition.


Each day, as you are doing the days tasks, keep the Entrepreneur Mindset before you.


Now here is a little trick: As you are keeping in the Entrepreneur Mindset, remember ONE thing about being an employee. Have set times where you SHOW UP to do focused work.


Sometimes working from home can be a curse if you don’t have the discipline to get things done. For that, I recommend a daily plan of action or a “To Do List” and pretend you are an employee. The difference here is that you work for yourself! ;)


On a side note: As you probably know I love to talk about self-esteem. Well, getting this Entrepreneur Mindset is great for your self-esteem. As you go through this process and build your business, your self-esteem grows. That in turn helps you get better at growing your business.

If You Are Serious About Network Marketing Success . . .

If you are serious about success in network marketing, you MUST take your personal development seriously. I can not stress that enough.


Personal development is at the root of every successful full time network marketer. I would be willing to say it is the absolute most important ingredient for success.


Every bit of personal development you do will increase your skills, your confidence, your comfort level, your value in the market place, your ability to attract abundance.


Personal development will not only improve your leadership skills, it will also help others take you seriously as a leader which in turn will attract people to you.


Personal development also helps build your self-esteem which is another important ingredient for success in network marketing.


Your business will only grow as much as you do. I recommend reading 10 pages of a book each day, subscribe to marketing newsletters and READ THEM, listen to training audios, attending webinars, attend any company events you can manage.

I Can Make You Great or I Can Make You A Failure

WHO am I?


Let me give you some clues. Exactly WHO IS ME?


I am your constant companion.


I am your greatest helper or heaviest burden.


I will push you onward or drag you down to failure.


I am completely at your command.


Half of the things you do you might as well turn
over to me and I will do them – quickly and correctly.


I am easily managed – you must be firm with me.
Show me exactly how you want something done

It’s the habits you develop that determine your success in your business or anything else.


As Jim Rohn said, “Work more on yourself than you work on your business.” Working on personal development is one of the best habits you can form. Not only working on mindset but also working on the skills you need to become a professional in this business.


Too often we see people sign up with a network marketing company thinking they will make money fast. It just doesn’t work that way. You have to learn the ropes. In any business there is a learning curve. There is training. Even if you work at McDonalds or Walmart, you have a training process to go through. You learn to take orders, run the cash register, learn about all the products, you learn how to deal with customers and a multitude of other things.


There is a big difference in the learning you learn as a business owner. You are learning skills that can either make you rich or make you struggle and fail in your business.


“You can never have, “do” or receive more than your own habits predict.”


Ask yourself, What habits am I developing that will insure the success I want for myself and my family. Are my habits productive or are they getting in the way of my success? We all need a self evaluating sometimes. We all go through periods of time where we are needing a kick in the pants.


Here are a couple good habits we all should be doing every day:


  • Read a few pages of a good book every day. I’m not talking about a novel. I mean something that will develop success mindset or skills you need for business.
  • Listen to training webinars. There are lots of excellent trainers out there that have awesome training. People who have built a successful business and share how they have done it. Welcome to Day 30 of the 30 Day EFT Self-Esteem Tapping!


Well, here we are at day 30. It has been a challenge getting the EFT scripts and videos made every day but I’m glad I did it. I hope you have benefited as much as I have from the EFT sessions. I am so energized I am almost bouncing off the walls. ;)

Today’s EFT tapping session is “I am A Magnet For Abundance and Success.” It is another positive affirmation tapping session. It is a mix of self esteem and magnetic abundance energy.

EFT is a powerful tool to use along with the law of attraction. With the law of attraction, you attract whatever matches the energy or vibrations you are sending out or radiating. That is one reason why these EFT self-esteem tapping sessions are really helpful.

Self Talk, Self Esteem and EFT

There is a book I love and I encourage everyone who is serious about the success of their business to read. Actually, there are several I recommend but the book I am talking about is, What to Say When You Talk to Your Self, by Shad Helmstetter


Your self talk has a powerful impact on your success in any endeavor but particularly when building your network marketing business. The words we are using all day long can either lift us or tear us down. Your self talk can either build our self esteem or ruin it.


It is important to release the negative emotions and keep the energy in a positive state. Affirmations can be helpful in redirecting our thinking and self talk. I like to enhance affirmations by tapping on the EFT points as I focus on the affirmations. You can use Emotional Freedom Technique to shift your energy to a more positive vibration.


The EFT Points


KC = Karate Chop
EB = Beginning of the Eye Brow
SE = Side of the Eye
UE = Under the Eye
UN = Under the Nose
Ch = Chin
CB = Beginning of the Collar Bone
UA = Under the Arm
WR = Inside of Wrists
TH = Top of Head


You can also tap the fingertip points. I sometimes tap these points discreetly when I am in public. Each finger can be tapped at the base of the nail.


Think of a positive affirmation that will help shift your energy to a more confident one. Tap each point repeating the affirmation as you tap each point. You can say multiple affirmations as you are tapping if you choose. While you are doing this, try to keep a smile on your face. There is something about smiling that super charges this process.


Always be aware of the words you use and how they impact your self image or self esteem.
