When the electric and phone was off for several days I found myself blessed with a lot of time time to do some reading and writing. It was sort of a blessing in disguise.
I just can’t bring myself to waste that much time. I was going to say killing time but that doesn’t sound at all good. Maybe we should change that to Skilling Time. 😉
Anyway, I found myself reading some of my old books. Here is a bit of wisdom I found in Secrets of MLM Superstars:
How Tough is MLM?
1. It’s as tough as “getting off your butt.”
2. It’s as tough as doing the things you don’t want to do long enough until you don’t have to do them anymore.
3. It’s a tough as deciding what your dream is and doing whatever it takes to get it.
4. It’s as tough as talking to enough people until you build a team of winners, then keep going!
5. It’s as tough as deciding you want to be more than average and ordinary.
6. It’s as tough as just doing it instead of “just talking about it.”
7. It’s as tough as following your leaders and the systems they worked hard to put together for YOU.
8. It’s as tough as helping others achieve their dreams.
I thought that was good list. It reminds me of Jim Rohn saying “This stuff isn’t hard, so why is it more people don’t have success? It’s a mystery.”

Some great points there Melodie, thanks for sharing.
Everything is as tough as we make it for ourselves, because we don’t want to get out of our “Comfort Zone”
Hi Melodie Kantner really wonderful way of skilling! I would have actually said killing time, but again reading and gaining more knowledge is gaining skills.
You’ve got to be willing to do the tough thing long enough that it will seem simple. And you’ve got to be as tough as nails. You have to have dedication, determination, and perseverance. Great list, Melodie.
Great realistic picture of what to expect. Too many people drop out to early because they have the wrong expectations and think that the will get success right away or bust. It is a long term business model, and my wife and I are excited to be working hard in it for the longhaul!
I love this post. Love the 8 things you listed and agree with them all. Network Marketing is tough but not too hard to do if your WHY is big enough. Having the Passion for your company and its product is important too.
Hey Melody,
It really is very simple to do MLM but for most people the simple things are the hardest for them to move forward with. This is why, in my opinion, it is 90% work on yourself and 10% work on your business when most people get started. Totally mind shift and reality creating in a new space.
Thanks for sharing.
Very true Edward. We always need to be working on ourselves.
Hi Melodie, I always say that those people that make it are the ones who REALLY want it,the one’s who are hungry and will not let anything get in their way. They’re in it for the haul long…that’s the spirit of a true entrepreneur. I think people use that name too lightly…true entrpeneurs do what it takes until they succeed, no excuses.
Great post Melodie. I agree that this business is only as tough as we make it for ourselves. More people would achieve success if they actually did the work and followed through what they started. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for quoting that part of my book Melodie! I’m rewriting it now to bring it current.
