When we begin our network marketing business we have a picture in mind of where we want to go. For some it is a little extra money to cover the cost of the products or supplement their income. For others, the picture is one of freedom: Freedom of time or freedom financially.
Our excitement over the possibilities can make us a little too eager to convince people to join us. We want them to get inspired like we are. The problem, if we are not careful is that, in our excitement, we can appear like a beggar. To our prospect, it may sound like, “Please, Please, Please join my company with me.”
That is not the message we want to give off in our communication with people. We want to talk to people from a position of confidence and posture.
Let go of the stress about the outcome. Approach conversations about your business or product as though you don’t care whether they join you or not. Remember, Some will, Some Won’t, So What! NEXT!
This is a very important principal in the Law of Attraction. When you are stressed about the outcome and needing people to join and buy products, you actually repel the business you want to attract. You want to project an image people are attracted to. People follow success and strength, not failure and weakness. Communicate from an energy of strength and confidence.
When you seem to play a little hard to get, it can actually cause curiosity and cause people to ask more questions. Here is one particular example that really sticks in my mind:
I was on a shuttle at the Columbus Ohio airport heading from the parking lot toward the place where you check in luggage. I used to be extremely fearful of flying. By the way, I used EFT to remove that fear and actually enjoy flying now.
At the time I was so fearful of flying, all I could focus on was my fear. I had a “Don’t even talk to me” attitude. This guy on the shuttle asked where we were going. I responded in a short no info response, “To a business convention.” He asked what kind of business. I briefly said it was a convention for distributors of therapeutic grade essential oils. The guy started asking questions about essential oils. I answered his questions very briefly, the whole time wishing he would stop talking to me.
Over the years I have noticed a pattern. When I drop a few comments and run, I often have people chasing me with more questions. When I was desperately wanting someone to see why they should join with me, they rarely joined.
There is something that happens to your posture when you aren’t feeling desperate for people to join. It doesn’t matter. Some will and some won’t.
One way to help develop confidence and posture is to build self-esteem. Personal development is of prime importance to professional network marketers. Building your confidence and leadership skills contribute to having a good posture.
Listening to audios and webinars, reading books, attending company events are some ways to build your skills and posture. Hanging out with and learning from people who have built a successful network marketing business is the best way to build confidence and posture.
As you are doing the personal development and learning skills that increase posture and confidence, why not do some EFT sessions to enhance the process. Try the EFT session below.

Hi Melodie
Self motivation is a powerful tool. I listened to your you tube video. I can only imagine doing this on a regular basis would help you be more confident overtime.
Perhaps I can start this to some extent, even if it’s on a small scale doing it less often but still getting it done. It’s always nice to look in the mirror sometimes and say you did a great job and pat yourself on the back.
Hey Brian. You’d be surprised how fast EFT works. You are tapping on reflexology meridian points. Fear and other negative emotions are connected to different body organs. Tapping on the points that correspond to the different organs helps clear out negative energy stored there. EFT is a very powerful tool. 😉
EFT is also great for enhancing affirmations. Tapping as you say or think the affirmations helps program it into the cellular level.
Hey Melodie,
EFT kicks ass. I got hooked the first time I saw a video on it on Youtube. It looks weird and feels strange at first though. Since then I used it on everything on a regular basis and works like a charm.
Highly recommended.
thanks for the share!

EFT is such a powerful way of dealing with releasing all kinds of fear and tension from our lives. It is so deceptively simple to use and bring such powerful results.
The idea of prospecting form a position of confidence and power is so much better than begging and guilting others into a downline. It could be that there is something somewhere that was best not approached form a position of confidence, but I truly would not be able to guess what it is.
Thank you for an excellent post.
Interesting video Melodie,
I don’t know much about EFT. How do different parts of the body differ in reactions to the affirmations? All looks very interesting.
As for prospecting, I find that sometimes when you step back to assess and review where you are in your business (rather than staying up till the early hours trying to get stuff done) then you seem to attract more people than when you are hectic. It is important to take time out and let the leads come to you. 🙂

Melodie what a helpful post. It is so true that coming from a position of need and desperation repels people. No matter how bad the situation is, one mus always come from a position of power by feeling that our services and products are helpful and that they actually and truly serve a purpose and are a solution to the client’s problems.
Hi Melody,
I remember being desperate and hoping the client did not feel it. There could be an almost unlimited number of reasons why I fell into a slump; however, it was my neglecting my prospecting most often. Even in a poor economy, there are top performing sales people, and those who just scrape by. Admitting that my success is up to me is the first step in getting back on track.
Great article, Melodie…
You are spot on with your thoughts about presenting your opportunity from a position of power. I have been guilty of those bad habits, in the past. One day I woke up and said…”no more”. Recently, I told a prospect that I did not feel my business was a good fit for them and that subsequently created more interest. Working from a position and process of attraction marketing will always win…thanks!
Confidence and posture are vital for success. It’s so important to come across as a leader with a big vision and good posture. That way people are attracted to you. After all, we are all attracted to leaders, naturally. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Melodie,
You really shared a great article, it’s certainly very important to be confident and believe on yourself, not only in business but actually in every part of life, thanks for sharing this post and the affirmation video…
Hi Melodie, having posture and confidence makes a big difference.
And, like you say, not being attached to the outcome is also really important, otherwise you’ll be doing the chasing instead of them coming after you.
Definitely, you never want to come off as sounding desperate. I think I am normally lax these days as I am pretty passionate about what I do. Maybe it is because I have been doing web design and development for a long time, and already have a good reputation.
I normally do not like to be brief with people. I learned a bit differently through my father and it seems to work great. The thing is to know when to start and when to stop. People who are desperate are all over the place and just do not know when to start or stop, or even just engage properly in general.
Hello Melodie
Approaching and talking with people with confidence no matter where you are, is really key to being more effective in building my business. What works best for me is to remember that the purpose of my business is to help other people solve their problems”. Since what we think about is important, I see my self talking with people to see if they have the types of problems I might be able to help them solve!” Having this type of dialogue with people required me to develop the skill of asking questions as opposed to telling. Melodie, you say in your post, “When you are stressed about the outcome and needing people to join and buy products, you actually repel the business you want to attract.” The dialogue process enables me to let go of the outcome and not repel the business. Great post.
Thanks

Hi Melodie, You made some really valid points about prospecting. You must show confidence if you want people to be interested in what you have to share and want to do business with them. If you come from a place of desperation and weakness you will repel the very people you want to attract. Thanks for sharing the EFT video it is a great help.
